  • Build target list of schools: reach, realistic, reserve
    • Begin having conversations with coaches and recruiting coordinator about level of play and academic goals
      • Reach: 10 +/- schools that are a reach at current playing ability, but could be attainable if continued improvement
      • Realistic: 20 +/- schools where athletes feel they could fit athletically

Reserve: 10+/- schools that athletes feel confident in their playing ability at that program

STEP 2: CREATE ONLINE PROFILES

  • Plan to Include:
    • Game Highlights

    • Include coaches’ names, details about why you are interested in their program

STEP 4: FINDING THE BEST FIT

  • Questions to Consider
  • Evaluation @ Tournaments & Camps
    • Keeping coaches up to date on how your season is going and film updates roughly 1x month
    • Get in the gym and get better!
  • Taking Visits:
    • Official: college can pay for transportation, lodging, and three meals per day for athlete and their parents/guardians
    • Unofficial: athlete/family pays for all expenses

STEP 5: OFFERS & COMMITMENTS

  • Division I and II Coaches can begin extending verbal offers on June 15th of Sophomore Year
  • Communicating with coaches to determine what each program’s timeline looks like versus your own
  • Plan to respond to every program regardless of interest level
    • After making a decision, be sure to contact all of the coaches/programs that were actively recruiting you to let them know of your decision BEFORE posting your commitment on Social Media

MAVS Volleyball historically has helped players find homes at colleges across the nation, in all levels. Our goal is to help our players identify the correct level of play they should be striving for, not just as an athlete but also as a student. We want our athletes to find the right fit academically, personally, and athletically. We encourage all of our athletes to look at the recruiting process as a dynamic process that requires time, patience, and commitment.
We will do our best to help our college coaches to discover MAVS athletes of all levels and positions that also fit academic requirements of each institution. If you have questions regarding our athletes, please feel free to reach out to the MAVS Recruiting Coordinator:
