Growing up in Silver Lake, KS, athletics and competition has always been a huge part of Michelle’s life. She played both volleyball and basketball at Baker University. Immediately after graduating, she jumped into teaching and coaching and truly understands the value of having the work ethic of a student-athlete. Coach Michelle has taught ELA and coached high school volleyball for 30 years, and 20 of those years were spent as a varsity head coach . She is currently the varsity asst. for Blue Valley West and has done so the past eight seasons. The Jaguars have made it to the state tournament seven of those eight years and earned a state title in 2020. Coach Michelle has coached for MAVS for close to 20 seasons, with many of those teams winning and placing high in qualifiers. In 2010-11, Coach Michelle’s 13s team made it to the National Championship. Since 2021, her 11 and 12s teams have won 5 national qualifiers and finished in the top 4 of the others. In 2021, Coach Michelle’s 11s team placed third in the nation. In 2023, her 11s team placed 5th at nationals. In 2024, Michelle’s current MAVS team placed in the top four of all four qualifiers they competed in and won the NIT championship. Coach Michelle believes in coaching girls to be strong not only on the volleyball court but in the classroom and in life as well.
